Apparel brand and advocate Paint Your Own Canvas has launched a competition for creatives who want to get their artworks featured on a fast-growing apparel line that continues to be a force for good across communities. The contest ends on August 1, 2022, and it is highly encouraging artists from all practices to enter and get a chance to win.
The contest by Paint Your Own Canvas will culminate in a full line of merchandise, including a tote bag, scarf, and pareo, among other possible applications. The winning entry will be printed on those merchandise and added to their website. “The contest is about taking our mission to a level further into execution,” shares Paint Your Own Canvas founder and 18-year-old entrepreneur Alihan Beba. “We are launching a design contest for you to submit your custom patterns to us. Everyone can apply to our contest via the contact form on our website pyocanvas.com or by email. I truly cannot wait to see the submissions and create our designs together!”
The e-commerce and design company was established with a mission to inspire creatives to pursue their life goals. It exists to help the youth pursue creative endeavors and find opportunities for growth and self-expression through various forms of visual art. For Alihan, Paint Your Own Canvas is more than just an online shop of stellar designs; it is a call to action “for every dreamer,” as the brand challenges people to express their creativity, serving as a platform to promote those fascinating artworks.
Growing up, Alihan developed his love for art by learning to draw patterns as a form of expression. As the artist and entrepreneur started to accumulate an extensive directory of drawings, he came up with the idea of printing them on accessories and selling them online. After learning all he could about the industry and researching the best quality materials and platforms, Alihan launched his website, Paint Your Own Canvas, which would then skyrocket in success.
But as the brand grew, Alihan’s desire to help others grew even stronger. Accordingly, he started seeking more ways to give back to the community in inventive and sustainable ways. For one, the products are manufactured in Istanbul, Turkey, to help the local economy while showcasing the city’s superior quality. Paint Your Own Canvas also uses BCI, a type of fabric cotton that is both sustainable and of superior quality to most synthetic fabrics used in fast fashion.
Because the brand also stands for youth empowerment, Paint Your Own Canvas has committed five percent of every sale to training young and promising creatives and entrepreneurs through its mentorship and outreach programs which the company runs in partnership with Beba Foundation and Entrepreneurship Foundation.
As the brand seeks other ways to empower people to pursue their dreams, Alihan hopes to expand its reach and create stunning designs that people will proudly wear. The organization’s contest will run until August 1, 2022, accepting submissions from anyone who wants their art to get out to the world.
