Composure Launches Platform that Organizes Unwieldy Legal Workflows for Significant Time, Money, & Resource Savings

Composure today announced its launch of a cloud-based platform that offers legal teams a better way to accomplish tasks and helps them produce work that makes a bigger impact.

Composure also today announced that it has successfully raised a round of financing from angel investors. The infusion of capital will be used to develop more product capabilities and support wider-scale marketing efforts, the company reported. The amount raised was not disclosed.

The company said that it is possible to organize the complex workflows of legal matters into a single, convenient and readily accessible tab. This means substantial time savings for lawyers as well money from not having clients spend on unnecessary services because they’re already included in Composure’s platform.

Creation of the Composure platform—currently the only single-tab legal workflow solution on the market—was spurred by a desire to help lawyers, paralegals, researchers, investigators, and others more efficiently collaborate on the myriad tasks required to do everything from answering clients’ legal questions to preparing witness interrogatories, and from readying court filings to creating a new company.

“The idea came to me during the course of a project I had been assigned by my supervising attorney,” said Composure founder and CEO Anmol Sahai. “I was tasked with collecting documents as part of a financing, but the process—standard throughout the legal profession—entailed manually combing through massive email threads, spreadsheets, and multiple folders to find needed documents.”

“This antiquated, hopelessly inefficient method of working left me frustrated. Exceedingly frustrated. So I went back to my supervising attorney and obtained authorization to find a better way to get this project handled.”

However, Sahai’s search bore only disappointment. “The available solutions were either too complicated to use because they came with too many options or else were too expensive,” he said. “Meanwhile, my team was transitioning to a hybrid model where some of the work was performed in-person while the rest was performed remotely. It soon became clear that not only did we need a tool to permit working more efficiently but also a tool to permit more facile collaboration.”

Since Sahai could obtain no such tool, he decided to make his own. The resulting platform proved to be such an effective problem-solver that Sahai felt he owed it to the legal profession to make it available to solo-practice lawyers, law firms, law clinics, legal departments, and their support teams.

“In every matter they undertake, legal professionals encounter massive email threads and spreadsheets,” he said. “Until now, they didn’t really have any good options for organizing and sifting through these materials. They could do it either manually or with improper tools. Either way, they ended up losing time and wasting money with tied-up resources.

“Composure solves this by allowing teams to seamlessly collaborate, optimize, and share information without skipping a beat–all on one easy-to-use platform.”

Sahai indicated that rich content and additional verticals will be gradually integrated with the platform. He said this will help democratize access to the law.

“My hope is to give the public greater access to the legal system,” Sahai explained. “Composure can play a vital role in that endeavor by making the law less remote so that everyone can easily be aware of it and put it to beneficial use.”

Buoyed by a strong launch, Sahai expressed confidence that Composure will come to be seen as a gamechanger.

“The world is a different place than it was a few years ago, which is why we believe change in the way legal professionals work is imperative,” he said. “By bringing efficiency and clarity to their work—especially for small firms and legal departments who normally have large caseloads—we can help them serve more people and do more good.”
