New musical theater production on Kickstarter brings a power-play of passion, politics, and history from 17th C England

The Fifth is a sensational musical themed around love amid the historical fight between Protestant England monarch and the Catholics.

How far could a man go for love? Since time immemorial, the world has witnessed many acts of bravery in honor of love- but could a lover be valiant enough to commit regicide to protect his lady love? Well, history bears witness to such a phenomenal incident as well that happened right in the heart of England. And a London-based theater production company, THE FIFTH, has recently launched a one-of-a-kind musical theater project that brings to light the lesser-known history of 17th Century England to a global audience. Titled “The Fifth”, the musical is aimed to enthrall with a passionate spectacle of love and politics, an awe-inspiring plotline, fervent lyrics, and transcending soundtrack

“The Fifth is England’s answer to the legendary Hamilton and Les Miserables. We are looking forward to introducing a lesser-known part of history that would inspire awe, and probably motivate you to look at the concepts of love, war, revolution, and killing in a new way. We are positive, it’s going to be a global sensation; our production is offering a unique opportunity for musical theater performers as well as the spectators to join hands on a unique project”, stated Sean Aspin, one of the leading members of THE FIFTH team.

Based on the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, The Fifth centers around 4 main characters- Guy Fawkes (the protagonist), Maria Pulleyn, Francis Tresham, and King James. The plot traces time back to 17th Century England when the country was rife with an extreme skirmish between the traditional Catholics and the new wave of Protestantism. It was those days when the monarchy was inclining towards Protestantism and renouncing Catholicism, leading to the outburst of revolts from existing Catholics.

Guy, Francis, and Maria were Catholics and the two men were members of a revolutionary gang. Guy, the protagonist, was an ammunition expert and the 5th member of a rebel gang aiming to bring redemption and solace amid a riotous political environment. The revolutionaries devised a plan to bomb the House of Lords during its inauguration on November 5, 1605.

Francis and Maria were childhood sweethearts but Guy had always loved Maria. However, Maria married Guy when Francis was taken away by the soldiers on fake charges. In a turn of events, after a while, Guy and his fellow rebels were sentenced to prosecution by the monarch for their beliefs- forcing the doted lover to leave behind his pregnant wife.

The Fifth will be a 20-song original album with studio-grade quality compositions. The musical has been composed by Royal College of Music accredited musicians

“The Fifth is not just any regular pay-per-view production – rather we are looking forward to creating something truly remarkable, special, and something that our audience would love to connect to. We have produced the trailer and now will proceed to the final production. As of now, we have always received community support and counting on the goodwill and generous collaboration of our backers through Kickstarter. Your kindness will enable us to bring this sensational production to life and present an incredible power-play before the world.”

Backers will be rewarded with exclusive discounts on the musical watch,  production merchandise, a perk to write songs for the production, and more.
