Emerging voices in Salvadoran Film and Media

The Consulate General of El Salvador in Los Angeles announced on Thursday November 10th 2022 that it will be hosting this year’s “Salvadoran Cultural Night”, to celebrate the Talent of Salvadoran Abroad. The night will Spotlight emerging voices in Salvadoran entertainment that are changing the narrative of what it means to be Salvadoran living abroad. 

Featuring the works of:

Filmmaker Raymundo Archila 

Raymundo Archila graduated from the world’s number one school for filmmaking: USC’s prestigious School of Cinematic Arts. At USC, Ray learned all aspects of working professionally in a highly competitive industry. After graduating he started in the industry as an editor. He worked on countless Commercials, Music Videos, and Feature Films, His most recent feature film, Insight, stars Keith David, John Savage, and Tony Todd. Due to a gap in the market for Central American content and representation, Archila wants to promote his Salvadoran-American culture in a fun and positive way. Recently he collaborated with Salvadoran Hip Hop Duo Crooked Stilo to direct a vibrant and jovial Music video for their new hit single “La Bala”. The Music video will feature lots of Salvi Food, Culture, & overall Jelengue. Currently he is fundraising for a horror feature film, “Manhunt”. 

Salvadoran Comedian Hoozay

Hoozay is a Los Angeles based Standup comedian and digital content creator. Born and raised in Compton, California, Hoozay first broke into comedy by starting a comedy show in his Parents backyard where his mom would sell Pupusas. There he crafted his skills and is now traveling the country with his Comedy, Pupusas and beer Tour.  He is part of Tiktoks Latinx Digital content creators and the Host of Millennial Cooking hacks on Curtido TV.  Hoozay uses his platform to entertain and educate people about Salvadoran culture using his brand of comedy. 

Founder of A.F.J.A Steven Levy

Steven Levy is the son of Salvadoran immigrants and product of Los Angeles Salvi Culture. He’s the founder of AFJA, a nonprofit organization focused on developing sustainable soccer academies for youth in El Salvador and Central America. AFJA has established 4 fully funded youth soccer academies throughout Central America with the help of NIKE and the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer club.

Filmmaker Armida Lopez

Armida Lopez was born in San Salvador and is a natural storyteller who began her career in entertainment as a local television producer on Sacramento Access.  She is known for her role in feature films like El Chicano and Boss Level. She has also been the face of over a dozen national commercials campaigns with known brands like Nike, Verizon, Ulta Beauty, and is currently the face of the McDonald’s campaigning Spotlight Dorado, an initiative to help fund Latino/ Indigenous filmmakers to create their films. 

The event will take place November 19th 2022 from 6pm-9pm at Lebanon Hall at 4810 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles CA 90027
