Colorado Mortgage Connect offers free online financial educational workshops

Launches “online university” to help consumers tackle money matters

Colorado Mortgage Connect, a home mortgage brokerage based in Parker, Colorado, has launched an ambitious new online program designed to educate consumers and combat financial illiteracy. The company’s Education First division is expanding its series of popular workshops on money topics with the aim of growing from a local to a national audience and positioning attendees to make better-informed financial decisions.

Founded in 2021, Education First began offering free in-person monthly workshops in Denver, Colorado Springs, and Pueblo last May on topics like wealth building, understanding credit, real estate investing, and designing a workable budget. Buoyed by robust attendance and increased interest from clients and consumers seeking to improve their financial education, Education First devised plans to broaden its offerings and provide greater access to its workshops online.

Now, it’s rolling out in 2023 what it calls an “online university” of video and digital resources that will include new and updated two-hour workshops, both live-streamed and on-demand, accessible at Coloradomortgageconnect.com/workshops and available for no charge.

“Our workshops are designed to provide crucial financial advice as well as a roadmap to achieve homeownership and overall generational wealth,” explains Johnny Macias, president/founder of Colorado Mortgage Connect. “Our mission is to break the generational poverty loop and provide expert guidance to a wide range of people who need help. That includes first-time home buyers, frustrated renters, beginner real estate investors, credit-challenged consumers, couples in the midst of divorce or separation, active duty military and veterans, and even real estate professionals.”

Other monthly workshops planned for 2023 and beyond – offered both in-person and online and led by experts ranging from credit coaches, budgeting experts, financial planners, insurance professionals, loan officers, real estate agents, title industry professionals, and attorneys – will cover topics including:

• First-time home buying, which will cover the financing process, homebuying terms, key players involved in the transaction, and more
• Getting started in real estate investing using the principles of I.D.E.A.L. (income, depreciation, equity, appreciation, and leverage)
• Mortgage products for real estate professionals, covering mortgage loan programs, terms, and processes
• Restarting financially and refocusing on wealth building, with a focus on understanding credit, budgeting, and creating multiple cash flow streams
• Life after divorce, uncoupling, bankruptcy, and foreclosure, emphasizing how to rebuild financially after these life events
• How to create 7 figures of wealth in 7 years by understanding your VA benefits, which explains how to design a multi-year plan for financial freedom using the real estate ladder method
• Building your belief statement and making a 1-degree difference.

“Last year, we typically got a large turnout of up to 35 attendees per workshop. But our goal going forward is to host an in-person audience of 100-plus with each new workshop and thousands more who attend online,” continues Macias. “Our online university will also enable participants to access our vast library of topics as well as private Facebook groups, one-on-one coaching opportunities, and workshop instructors they can contact directly.”
