The Independent Hotel Welcomes the Holiday Season with a Special Nutcracker-Inspired Package

A Sugarplum Fairy, a Nutcracker Prince, and a giant evil Mouse King – can only signal one thing – December has arrived. In anticipation of this grand holiday tradition, The Independent Hotel is offering the Gingerbread and Sugarplums package so that generations young and old can experience the legendary ballet masterpiece, George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker™.

The package, available for the season’s duration, December 8 – December 30, includes deluxe accommodations, two tickets to Pennsylvania Ballet’s performance of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker™ at the Academy of Music and a gingerbread and sugarplum welcome amenity of truffles and gingerbread cookies. Guests have the option of purchasing a gift certificate to Fish restaurant, Mike Stollenwerk’s lauded seafood restaurant located at The Independent Hotel.

“We are very excited to be a part of this great Philadelphia holiday tradition,” said Leah Lucas, general manager of The Independent Hotel. “Every year, the hotel looks forward to welcoming the season this way and we are thrilled to promote the prestigious production of The Nutcracker on this special anniversary year.”

Pennsylvania Ballet has been performing The Nutcracker for the last 44 years. This is the 25th anniversary of George Balanchine’s full-length version of the production, which the Company began performing in 1987. The Independent Hotel is a 24-room boutique hotel conveniently located near the Academy of Music at the corner of 13th and Locust Streets and is a member of HHM’s Independent Collection, a portfolio of independent hotels that curate the standout neighborhoods in which they reside and offer authentic travel experiences for their guests.

Allow yourself to be transported away by this fanciful production and then waltz two blocks back to your cozy evening abode at The Independent Hotel – to dream of Sugarplums, of course.
