LiquidCool Solutions and Magnum Data Centers Launch Liquid Mini, One of the Most Eco-Efficient Computers on the Market

Rochester, MN and Athens, GA — LiquidCool Solutions, Inc., a technology development firm with patents surrounding cooling electronics by total immersion in a dielectric fluid, and Magnum Data Centers, Inc., a provider of affordable, efficient, and environmentally beneficial products to deploy data center capacity, are announcing the launch of Liquid Mini, one of the most eco-efficient computers on the market

Liquid Mini was developed specifically for military applications, manufacturing plants, mining sites, refineries and other locations where equipment is subject to adverse conditions, as well as IT professionals interested in test-driving the technology in anticipation of the release of the Liquid Server.

A purpose built computing device with components similar to today’s high-performance PCs, the Liquid Mini uses LiquidCool Solutions’ innovative patented directed-flow cooling technology to protect electronics from humidity, dust, oxidation, and corrosive gases. Its fan-free design produces a system that is highly reliable, energy efficient and runs virtually silent.

The Liquid Mini statistics:

  • Reduces power to cool at the device level by 98%
  • Reduces all-in power costs by 30%
  • Completely eliminates fans
  • ~0 decibel sound emissions
  • Operating environments from 15 to 110 degrees F

The specifications of the model currently available at for $2,999 are:

  • RTP-i7, “MINI”
  • Thin mini ITX motherboard
  • Core i7-4790S Haswell – Quad Core, 8MB, 65W TDP, 3.2GHz, LGA-1150
  • 16GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM Unbuffered Non-ECC DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
  • 250GB mSATA SATA III Internal Solid State Drive

To demonstrate Liquid Mini’s durability, the system was operated at the bottom of an aquarium with fish swimming around it:

The release of Liquid Mini is a major step towards enterprise adoption of data center servers that include fully self-contained directed flow systems utilizing liquid submerged technology.

About Magnum Data Centers

Magnum Data Centers is a company whose stated purpose is to reinvent the data center. Founders Mark Acosta and Cody Murray are startup veterans with impressive resumes and a passion for community and sensible innovation.  MDC’s first entry into the market was with the MagnumOne, a pre-fabricated data center facility about the size of a shipping container, that is shippable, affordable, versatile, and can scale modularly. The Liquid Mini is Magnum Data Centers’ second product to market.

About LiquidCool Solutions

LiquidCool Solutions is a technology development firm with patents surrounding cooling electronics by total immersion in a dielectric fluid. LCS technology can be used to cool electronics of any shape and size.  For rack-mounted servers the dielectric fluid is pumped from a central station through a manifold mounted on the rack into sealed IT devices, flooding each chassis and slowly flowing over and around the circuit boards and internal components via directed flow as shown in the illustration. Once the coolant exits the enclosure it is circulated outside the datacenter where the heat is captured for commercial reuse or rejected to the atmosphere by a commercially available fluid cooler.

LCS licenses its IP to OEMs looking for a cooling solution that saves energy, saves space, enhances reliability, operates silently, and can be surprisingly easy to maintain in the field. LCS cooling technology has the capacity of dissipating 100 kilowatts per rack at costs far less than alternative technologies.
