Born in small town Bolton, Massachusetts, Jessa Campbell grew up with a wild imagination. Her hobbies of playing pretend and stretching the boundaries of fantasy and reality eventually lead her to the theater. At the young age of 7, Campbell began what would later become her life passion: acting. With the persistence of her mother, she began performing in local community plays and musicals. Campbell impressed audiences in local adaptations of Spring Awakening, Reckless, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. When she turned 18, Campbell auditioned for a spot in the renowned Royal Conservatoire of Scotland based in Glasgow, where she spent two years honing her musical theater skills.
Campbell can be seen in Timothy Hines’ upcoming historical film 10 Days In A Madhouse alongside veteran actor Christopher Lampbert. The film follows Nellie Bly, the pioneer of investigative journalism, as she risks her life for social justice by feigning insanity and getting herself committed into the notorious women’s asylum on Blackwell’s Island. Campbell stars as Tillie Mayard, one of the women residing in the mental ward who looks to Bly for friendship and relief from the harsh conditions. Campbell auditioned for the role through a video monologue, which immediately caught the attention of the directors and producers of the film. Hines personally called her to offer her the part.
In her spare time, Campbell enjoys playing with her poodle Pilot, practicing piano, writing songs and hanging out with her friends. The young starlet will be moving to Los Angeles in October to study at the Stella Adler Academy of Acting, and she couldn’t be more excited.
