From 2007 to 2014, the U.S. was a net exporter of drawn and blown glass. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was less pronounced.
China and Germany were among the other main global suppliers of drawn and blown glass in 2014. The fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Jordan (+51.5% per year) and Switzerland (+19.1% per year). However, it was China that significantly strengthened its position in the global export structure.
In 2014, the U.S.’s top 3 trading partners were China, Canada and Mexico, with a combined 100% share of U.S. drawn and blown glass exports. The share of China nearly doubled (+85 percentage points), while the share of Canada fell sharply (-15 percentage points).
