CHICAGO – Molly Coeling of Molly Coeling Reiki, a Reiki Master Teacher, massage therapist, and a co-founder of the Midwest Reiki Community, announced today that she has been selected to present on a panel at the Breathe Network’s training event, Reintegrating the Body, Mind and Spirit – Trauma, Resilience and Holistic Survivor Advocacy. The event will take place on November 3 at Temple Beth Israel in Skokie, IL. It is hosted by Jewish Child and Family Services, with the goal of exploring innovative practices in sexual violence recovery from various perspectives.
“Sexual violence can cause all kinds of complex somatic issues in a survivor,” said Coeling. “What presents as a postural deviation or sciatic pain may actually be rooted in emotional trauma from surviving a violent event. With the hands-on energy work we do with Reiki and related treatment approaches, we can help a sexual violence survivor release themselves from the somatic impact of a traumatic experience.”
Reintegrating the Body, Mind and Spirit – Trauma, Resilience and Holistic Survivor Advocacy is planned as a multifaceted event. The program will present a survivor’s testimonial on the power of integrating holistic healing into recovery and a moderated panel discussion. The panel, which will include Coeling, is intended to examine trauma-informed care and the value of the holistic healing arts for survivors, and finally, insights as to how the healing arts can naturally complement existing advocacy response systems.

In addition to Reiki, Coeling’s practice focuses on such techniques as deep tissue work, myofascial release, neuromuscular manipulation, trigger point release, energy work and chakra balancing, sports massage, relaxation/Swedish massage, assisted stretching and joint mobilizations as well as lymphatic drainage techniques.
