19 Oct, 2015 – Drunk Motorcyclist, more than a 1000 each year, are a serious US traffic safety problem.
Further, motorcyclist fatalities are up 26% in the last 10 years compared to motor vehicle fatalities, down 24%.
More than 30% of the motorcyclists were DUI with 59% Double Drunk at BAC of 0.16%+ and 17% Triple Drunk at BAC 0.24%+.
A short profile of the DUI motorcyclist would be an un-helmeted male, over age 40, speeding on Saturday night between 9pm and 3am.
Intervention to prevent the seriously impaired motorcyclist from driving, those Triple Drunk DUIs, at 3 times the legal limit, would save more than 180 lives each year.
