Austin marks sixth chapter in 5000 member professional organization

AUSTIN, TX – 19 Nov, 2015 – Young Catholic Professionals, the organization that connects young professionals with each other to maintain their Catholic faith while pursuing demanding careers, is launching in Austin, Texas on December 1st. Founded in 2010, Young Catholic professionals – colloquially known as “YCP” – brings young adults together for speaker events, panel discussions, and networking in order to foster Catholic identity, to encourage community, and to inspire a call to action.

The organization will hold its kickoff event on December 1st at 7:00pm CST, at the home of Austin Legatus Chapter President, John Oberg, at 4208 Hidden Canyon, Austin, Texas 78746.

“Coming off the heels of our 2015 National Gala in Dallas, Texas, the groundswell of support has been enormous as we approach launch,” said YCP founder Jenn Baugh. “We look forward to serving Austin and its Catholic community,” she added. YCP held its national event in Dallas, Texas on September 12th with Dallas Bishop Kevin Farrell and several Catholic celebrities in attendance.

The chapter received its formal endorsement to begin formation from Bishop Vasquez of the Diocese of Austin on October 20th. Said YCP Austin Chapter president Amanda Villarreal, “I look forward to connecting with the potential members of our YCP community and sharing in our many meaningful spiritual and professional development events throughout the year. My leadership team and Board of Directors are excited for the opportunity to serve as well as support the existing parish ministries throughout our diocese.”

The organization’s events for its first year consist of a monthly Executive Speaker Series, Networking Happy Hours, and St. Joseph the Worker Retreats throughout the Diocese for young professionals to meet, connect, learn and share their ideas.


As a national organization, YCP membership consists of young adults in their 20s and 30s, single and married, who are highly motivated to achieve personal and professional success while seeking a greater understanding of their Catholic faith. It welcomes professionals who interested in learning more about the Catholic faith. YCP has active chapters in DallasFort WorthSan Antonio, Houston and Denver, and relationships with Catholic executives and young professionals across the country.
