Canadian Artist Launches Kickstarter Campaign to Fund Young Heroes Project

Art book of imaginative drawings of popular characters as young children.

TORONTO, Canada – March 2, 2016 – Sheharzard Arshad, Creative Director and father of 2 beautiful children, launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund his latest art book project – Young Heroes. The book consists of 30-40 drawing pieces featuring close-up portraits of popular characters as young children. The campaign goal is to raise $6,000 CAD by March 22, 2016.

Imagine Lara Croft or Samus from Metroid Prime as an innocent young girl or any characters of League of Legend as children. Every character has gone through a lot of hardship and battle training to become strong protectors of the innocent. The world often forgets that these individuals were once children before they became the ferocious heroes they are today.

Arshad has taken a unique approach to drawing video game and other media characters in serene, hand-drawn, portraits of their younger selves to give people a different perspective on their beloved heroes. The Young Heroes Project sheds light on a concept everyone understands and appreciates, which is the transformation from being a child to becoming an adult.

Each piece is drawn live at While Arshad is creating the portraits, viewers can ask questions about the process or give feedback on the piece. It takes roughly two hours or more for each picture. To view previous recordings, click here
