Havana Lights – Cuban Artists Leading the Wave of Economic, Social, and Culture in Cuba

Independent artists are on a mission to restore the antique neon signs in Havana City

HAVANA, Cuba – April 11, 2016 – One talented artist from Cuba, Kadir Lopez Nieves, is on a mission with other Cuban artists to restore Havana’s luster to its former glory. After sixty years in the dark, the Havana Lights project will repair and relight the city’s historic vintage signs. The creators launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $25,000 by May 21, 2016. With the help of the community, supporters can adopt the sign and bring to life a vibrant city skyline that has been dormant for decades.

This is an excellent campaign for people who love art, enjoy neon, and want to see Havana’s skyline restored. During the 1950’s, Havana’s city lights rivaled Paris. Kadir and his team want to revamp this magnificent beauty for the world to enjoy. The Havana Lights project will add public culture in Cuba with gorgeous visual cues to show Cubans progress and strength from the city’s historic past. This initiative will also create jobs and enhance the private sector economy in Havana. This project fully complies with Cuban and US law including US Treasury & Commerce regulations.

Click here to make a contribution and adopt a sign today! Backers can choose from a number of attractive rewards, including a fine art print created for this campaign by Kadir Lopez. Perks will be delivered by July 2016.

Please keep in mind this is an “all-or-nothing” deal. If the campaign does not reach the funding goal, then the project cannot move forward. So know that any amount given can make a difference. This is also an incredible opportunity to be a part of a special project during a historic period of change in Cuba! Help the campaign reach its goal by sharing this on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks. The more people know about this, the more support the campaign will receive.
