Italian Following Roots – Innovative Solution Providing Descendants With Generational Knowledge

A digital portal to pass on cultural heritage and tradition.

Naples, Italy – May 31, 2016 – Eu.Tropia, a non-profit Italian research center focused on economic education and development, is launching an innovative,global digital solution to help facilitate the rediscovery of cultural heritage through people’s generational roots. The organization launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise €207,000 by June 24, 2016. The funds received will be used for operating and management expenses, scientific research, trademark registration (national and international copyright), and marketing to complete year one’s first and second phase of the project. 6 phases will be implemented over a course of three years. Phase I and II will be carried out in year one. It will document regional landscapes, for exploratory and environmental studies, and daily rural and artisan lifestyles. 

There are more than 90 million Italians throughout the world. In the United States, there are more than 20 million (Cumulative between 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation). Through the analysis of immigration research, Eu.Tropia has discovered that majority of the 3rd and 4th generation have been affected by the lost of the “Italian spirit” and is in search for their roots.


Italian Following Roots is a project to share the best practice of “Following Roots” with integral and concrete methodologies. Through the development of digital art and virtual rooms descendants will be educated about the diversity of cultural expressions, which will help preserve heritage. This digital solution can connect one generation to another by passing down tangible and intangible assets of rural areas, which are characterized by ancestral origins. Current, along with future generations will benefit greatly by learning about centuries-old traditions.
