Amy Schumer is an American writer, actress and stand-up comedian. Schumer began her career in the off-Broadway comedy Keeping Abreast where she played a young woman diagnosed with breast cancer. In June 2004, she started doing stand-up at the Gotham Comedy Club. She recorded a Live at Gotham episode in 2007 for Comedy Central. She later appeared on last Comic Standing and advanced to the finals of the fifth season after not passing on an earlier season. Schumer was quoted saying that she thought of the episode as her “big break.”

 

In 2008, Amy Schumer co-starred in the Comedy Central reality show Reality Bites Back. She began working on a sketch comedy series for Comedy Central in June 2012. The show features Schumer playing ‘heightened versions’ of herself and is linked together with footage of her stand-up shows. The show, titled Inside Amy Schumer premiered on Comedy Central on April 30, 2013 and was picked up for a second season that began in 2014. To promote the second season of her show, she started her back Door Tour in 2014. Inside Amy Schumer’s second season featured closing act and Schumer’s favorite live performer Bridget Everett.
