Hoover High School Students Learn Important Work-Readiness and Leadership Skills at Dale Carnegie Training and Junior Achievement Educational Workshop

The lessons from Carnegie’s bestselling book, “How to Win Friends and Influence People” will be brought into the classroom to help prepare high school students to succeed in the “real-world”.

On Tuesday, October 18, students from Hoover High School will participate in a leadership workshop hosted by Dale Carnegie’s Training of San Diego and Junior Achievement of San Diego County (JA). The event will be at Hoover High School, located at 4474 El Cajon Blvd., San Diego, 92115 from 10:45 A.M. to 12:45 P.M.

The workshop will bring lessons from Dale Carnegie’s powerful book, “How to Win Friends and Influence People” inside the classroom to prepare students to succeed in the “real-world.” As part of the curriculum, students will have the opportunity to improve their leadership and communications skills by mastering human relations principles, practicing storytelling skills that prompt action, and working together in teams.

Students learn dressing and speaking professionally, being on time and working as a team, are just as important as a strong academic foundation. This comes at a time when 39 percent of U.S. employers say a lack of talent is negatively impacting their ability to serve current clients and customers.

“Dale Carnegie of San Diego is always looking for ways to give back to the San Diego community and strongly believes in supporting our future leaders by collaborating with programs like Junior Achievement and local educational institutions. This initiative is also a part of the Global Day of Giving with 100+ global Dale Carnegie centers delivering complimentary leadership training to youth non-profits worldwide to celebrate Dale Carnegie’s 104th Anniversary,” said Brittany Schmid, President at Dale Carnegie Training of San Diego.

“As an organization that is dedicated to shaping our future industry leaders, Junior Achievement of San Diego County is excited to partner with Dale Carnegie Training of San Diego in providing soft skills training for Hoover’s student leadership,” said Flora Barron, Work-Based Learning Manager at Junior Achievement of San Diego. “We believe this type of training and the skills they will develop will make them more marketable and viable job candidates in the future.”
