Coral Springs, FL, January 16, 2017: While we often keep our kids away from ovens, what we don’t understand is that kids can bake too! It’s this spirited thought that led promising 10-year-old Jada Porter to open up her own online bakery business: Porter’s Pastries. And that’s not all. The most amazing thing is that within just 90 days of the launch of her business, this child prodigy has already landed her first national TV appearance for a kids business competition.
Super-talented, enterprising Porter has made it to as far as NY from Coral Springs, FL for the FIRST EVER “Biz Kid” Competition on The Harry Show which will be aired on Monday, January 16 on NBC at Noon (check your local listings).
“I am so excited about being on TV, talking about what I love to do, and going to NY. I’ve never been on a plane before! I want to inspire my peers to follow their dreams like I followed mine. I really hope you enjoy the show, it’s an experience that I will never forget.” Jada was gushing with confidence and positivity as she announced the news.
The Harry Show producers searched all over the country to find the most fitting candidates for such elite competition. Only 3 kid businesses made the cut and the incredibly talented Chef Jada was one of them.
An aspiring baker since the age of 8, Jada Porter is deeply inspired by the famous culinary TV show “Cake Boss”.
“Whenever I watched the show, I thought: ‘That’s going to be me one day’ ”, she added in.
She started taking lessons from her Great Grandma, attended private baking lessons with her baking coach, Ms. Major, and also browsed through YouTube baking videos to perfect her craft. After a series of lessons, her mom got her the baking supplies to encourage her to turn her passion into profit. In the summer of 2014, Jada took part in a “Financially Fit Kids” workshop. She made as many as 80 sweet treats at the event including brownies, cupcakes and pound cake slices. Much to her delight, everything was SOLD OUT! As a result, the promising kidpreneur made her first ever $98.
Since that summer, Jada has been baking regularly. Chef Jada has baked more than 1,000 sweet treats and sells at one of the largest Farmer’s Market in South Florida every month.
“I simply love to bake but more than that, I LOVE to watch others enjoying my treats & telling me just how YUMMY they are. What sets me apart is that I am a kid that loves to bake sweet treats from scratch, with love.”
Jada has also started her “A DOZEN Acts of Kindness” movement which promotes various kind acts. In addition, a portion of her company’s proceeds are donated to the Kidz Count organization that promotes youth financial literacy and entrepreneurship.
Even more impressive, the kid maverick is releasing her very own book entitled: “Kids Can Bake” this summer. Pre-Order your copy today by visiting http://www.porterspastries.com
