New Photobook “Female” Celebrates Transgender Women

An award-winning documentary photographer that has worked with many of the most important publications in the country including the Washington Blade, Washington DC City Paper and the Washington Post is about to publish a seminal work on transgender women in America.  The author’s professional portfolio has focused on historic events like the human rights violations in Chile, and she  has focused her lens most often on marginalized individuals and communities. Her latest project is a touching portrait series of America’s transgender women, photographed over a span of four years for a book entitled, “Female.”

“Female” will be a beautiful, hardcover-bound photobook printed on lustrous Magno Matt paper that will offer the ideal format for the indelible images of these diverse, wonderful women. “Female” will be much more than a collection of photos, it will be a testament to the strength, beauty and resilience of these misunderstood and often victimized champions of individuality.

After four years of work, “Female” is finally ready to be published, but the publication cost is more than $30,000. To raise these funds, the author has sponsored a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.  In return for your generous support of this historic project, you may receive perks like an unframed 16×20 print, an E-book version, or an autographed hardcover edition.
