Philly isn’t a town of wine snobs; It’s a city of passionate and hard working folks; It’s a city that cuts it’s own independent path. It shouldn’t be a surprise that it’s wine school is cut from the same cloth.
This August, the Wine School of Philadelphia is hosting it’s 10th annual Summer Wine School. It’s the only program of it’s sort offered anywhere: a one week accelerated course that ends with a level three wine certification.
Summer School is an accelerated version of the school’s Core Wine Course, which typically lasts eight weeks. For six days, students will be fully immersed in wine education, tasting wines, discussing flavors, and learning to develop their palates under the tutelage of world-class sommelier-instructors.
The proof is in the pudding. By the end of the week, students will be a better wine taster than most sommeliers. If not, they can retake the entire program for free.

Alana Zerbe is a widely praised sommelier-instructor with a decade of experience. Since 2015, she has been the Director of Wine Education at the Wine School of Philadelphia.
