Introducing Latchkeys, The Animated Short to Wow Children Everywhere

In today’s youth, there are a variety of factors that can affect their emotions. For many children who are entering adolescence, hormonal imbalances and social anxiety can cause overwhelming emotions. Here to help make sense of it all is a new animated short dubbed Latchkeys.

Growing up is not an easy task, but it is one that is asked of every child across the world. Children entering adolescence are faced with a variety of issues that they have never weathered before. From the mood swings that come with being a teenager to the added social pressures that these young adults face, there are a plethora of challenges that can cause distress in the life of every child. Thankfully, many of these challenges can be overcome with a bit of emotional intelligence with emphasis on core concepts like compassion, self-worth, and more. Teaching this emotional core is exactly what Mikhail Sebastian’s latest animated short, Latchkeys, is all about. With a cast of young characters, a unique art style, and an exhilarating adventure, the short is sure to wow children of all ages while teaching the intricacies of emotion.

As for the plot of Latchkeys, the short revolves around a single Latchkey Squad from Keygen Cove. The squad’s members, Meelo, Guava, Camila, and Jessie, are tasked with going to the houses of children who have activated a scientific phenomenon known as “The Homunculus Effect.” This effect occurs when the pheromones that adults naturally produce are not present, and as a result, the houses of children who are home alone are transformed into wonderlands according to the child’s imagination. However, children who are distressed from a reality that is far from a wonderland; rather, they generate a ghoulish realm dominated by the villain known as Locksmith. Here to save these distressed children are Latchkey Squads and their courageous members. As Meelo, Guava, Camila, and Jessie travel from household to household; they teach children to embrace their imaginations and control their emotions rather than be controlled by their emotions.

Sadly, producing a fully animated work with this many moral themes packed into it is no easy task. To remedy this issue, the team behind Latchkeys has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. Through the campaign page, readers can support the creation of Latchkeys content in exchange for credit mentions, key chains, t-shirts, a digital download of the animated short, and much, much more. With this support, the team behind Latchkeys is excited to be bringing real change to the lives of children everywhere through emotional education.
