Recipient of Washington D.C.’s Best Tourist Attraction Award – DC Fashion Week Celebrates Season XXVII

WASHINGTON, DC – September 21, 2017 – The fashion showcase that unites both local & worldwide designers, DC Fashion Week (DCFW) launches its 27th season beginning September 21st through 24th, 2017. The much-anticipated schedule of events is listed below.

Thursday, September 21st – Eco Fashions & Next/Gen Fashion Show

Brought to you exclusively by DCFW, the Eco Fashions & Next/Gen fashion show provides a platform for students, from participating educational institutions possessing an accredited fashion program, with good academic standing to present one winning design in the group fashion showcase. It also provides them with opportunities to network with established businesses and the potential to collaborate on consignment and as well as retail. Eco Fashions & Next/Gen designers are tasked with creating clothing from recyclable materials or by methods not harmful to the environment. This season 14 students representing the crème de la crème are chosen to showcase their latest next generation and eco-conscious fashion design.

Friday, September 22nd – Corjor International & Magnum Collections

Experience the mind-boggling couture designs of celebrity designer & DCFW’s executive director, Ean Williams at the Opera Ultra Lounge. Recipient of the Best Indie Menswear Designer award, Williams’ collections feature breath-taking styled womenswear as well as couture menswear, including specialty underwear for today’s man.

Saturday, September 23rd – M.E.D.I.A. (Metropolitan Emerging Designers & Indie Artists Showcase)

Continuing to emerge in popularity, the M.E.D.I.A. showcase features designers of Ready 2 Wear fashions including swimwear, athletic/sportswear, urban wear, cocktail & evening dress wear, and business casual. This season the showcase is expanded to include the Washington Menswear Collections Show, allowing additional exposure and coverage of menswear designers. Also, not to be overlooked, designers of Plus Size fashions are also a part of the showcase as its growth and popularity are becoming mainstream.

This showcase also welcomes very special musical guest from NBC’s The Voice, Joe Maye who just may “put a spell on you” with his spectacular performance hosted at the Crystal City Doubletree Hotel by Hilton.

Sunday, September 23rd – The 27th International Couture Collections Show

The historic Sphinx Club at Franklin Square hosts the much-anticipated season finale. This showcase features designers who make high-end (luxury) fashion, often constructed by hand from start to finish using high quality, expensive and often unusual fabrics. Collections featured a) include one-of-a-kind designs; b) are not mass-produced and; c) include eveningwear, bridal, as well as semi-cocktail gowns. Many of the designers in this showcase are guest designers from around the world and may include their country’s traditional costume designs. This event is considered the flagship of DCFW and is always held on the closing night (finale). Special guest designer honorees include the following: Anjoreen Couture (Nigeria), Corjor Int’l (U.S.), Ellen London (Thailand), Ites Int’l (Jamaica), Jasmine Boutique (Cambodia), Nandi (U.S.), and Yordi Design (Ethiopia). Accessory designer Stevie Boi (U.S.) whose eyewear is worn by Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and Madonna is the opening act.
