LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – 23 Sep, 2017 – Rideshare drivers from Uber and Lyft have joined forces to bring much needed relief to hurricane victims.
HeadrestAds.com, which provides RideCap headrest covers for the rideshare industry, is collaborating with the faith-based nonprofit charity Convoy of Hope, to develop a unique “in car” text-to-donate system that encourages rideshare passengers to text in their hurricane relief donations during the ride.
“This is a fantastic way for Uber and Lyft passengers to be reminded of the ongoing relief that is so desperately needed,” says Eric Nuebauer, Corporate Relations Director at Convoy of Hope.
“After we saw the devastation, we decided to give what we could, so they can do all that they can,” said Dewey Oates, owner of HeadrestAds.com.
The system is quite simple. All drivers that request, are provided a free Convoy of Hope headrest card that prompts the rider to text “RIDE” to 50555 to make a $10 charitable donation. The passengers never need cash, the donation is conveniently billed to their cell phone.
According to Dewey, the drivers can either place the new Convoy of Hope insert into their existing RideCap headrest cover, or simply display it anywhere in their vehicle. Up to 5,000 free Convoy of Hope insert cards will be distributed to rideshare drivers.
Convoy of Hope is a faith-based organization with a driving passion to feed the world. With a long history as an early responder in times of natural disasters, Convoy of Hope has been a Four Star Charity as recognized by Charity Navigator for 14 consecutive years. Convoy of Hope has served more than 85 million people since it was founded in 1994.
