The Mohammed VI Museum of the civilization of water in Morocco, in partnership with the Moroccan Association of Ibn Battuta, will hold a conference under the theme of “Water and Man: Peace and Coexistence.”

This first-of-its-kind conference will feature four prominent experts in the field of water management. For the national section: Jaafar Kansoussi: Heritage Expert and Khalid Rami: Professor at Cadi Ayyad University. And for the international section: Ciarán Ó Cuinn, director of the Middle East Desalination Research Center in Muscat, Oman and Tugba Evrim Maden, international Expert at the Turkish Water Institute located in Istanbul.

The conference is programmed as follows:

• Water, a strategic source for humanity

• Water as a factor for peace in several regions

• Water Conflict, what resolution today?

It is worth noting that Mohamed Dekkak, honorary president of the association, stresses how critical this onference is as it highlights the extraordinary Moroccan experience is managing water resources across the centuries, a way for him to explain how sound management of water resources contributes to achieving sustainable peace.

The Mohammed VI Museum of the civilization of water in Morocco – Aman, was established by the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs, an unprecedented project in Marrakech, a city that owes its development to the ancient wise water management of the Moroccan people. This new generation museum is at the same time historical, scientific, cultural, pedagogical and ludic. The museum belongs to the new perception of the kingdom, that of investing the immense deposit of cultural and creative industries. This museum is a cultural institution that aims at preserving history and spotlighting the Moroccan water heritage as a reference point for water management globally.

The Moroccan Association of Ibn Battuta, theonly association solely dedicated to the promotion of Ibn Battuta’s character, cultural legacy and philosophy of peace and tolerance, organizes the second edition of the International Festival of Ibn Battuta under the theme of “Travelers, the Ambassadors of Peace” to be held from 9 to 12 November 2017 in Tangier.
