Herringstone’s Boutique is offering a wide selection of velvet jackets and accessories to match.
When you think of velvet, don’t think of red or black and something bulky. Velvet comes in just about any shade you can think of and patterns,” said Debbie Herrington, co-owner of the boutique.
Velvet material used to make clothes like velvet jackets and accessories is not a summer fabric to be sure. The weave of the material is heavier that most single-layer clothes, but it is still light enough to be worn on cool, but not cold days.
“Some of our velvet jackets are about the same as a blazer in terms of weight, wear and the kind of temperatures you’ll be comfortable in. Some of the jackets are heavier and designed specifically for cooler weather. They are jackets you’ll take off when you are inside,” said Cindy Stone, co-owner of Herringstone’s Boutique.
This year’s jackets are also cut to a variety of different styles. Some styles are the Renegade Moto Jacket, cut to look like a leather biker’s jacket, several blazer cuts and full length duster-style.
“Velvet is not just a plain fabric that shimmers. It is quite dynamic and can be shaped to whatever anyone wants. A lot of people are only familiar with velvet as formal wear, but it can be much more than that,” Ms. Herrington said.
The jackets can be matched with velvet accessories too like blouses, slacks, footwear and purses.
“You can make velvet match your style from fun and flirty to serious and elegant and everything between,” Ms. Stone said.
Herringstone’s Boutique and Heirloom by HerringSonte’s carries an extensive line of velvet clothing and accessories.
