On November 11, 2014 the Grand Rabbi of Rupshitzcelebrated the Brit Milah of his grandson, who was named Shmuel Shmelka (Kornreich).
The ceremony took place at the main Synagogue located at1856 53rd Brooklyn, NY 11219. Over one hundred followers and relatives attended as well as guests from abroad. Many Rabbinic and community leaders graced the dais where a lavish Breakfast was served.
Ropshitz is the name of a Hasidic dynasty, and group who are descendants of Rabbi Naftali Zvi Horowitz of Ropshitz (1760-1827). He was the Author of Or Yishai, son-in-law of the Zera Kodesh – A leading Chassidic leader of his time. His teachings were posthumously published in Zera Kodesh on the Torah and Ayala Shlucha on the Holidays. Ropshitz is the name of a town in southern Poland known in Polish as Ropczyce.
Many major rabbis are descendants of the Rebbes of Ropshitz. Among the offshoots of the Ropshitz dynasty are, the Dzikov, Glogov, Melitz, Stitshin, and Strizov dynasties.
Today, Rabbi Chaim Meir Yechiel Rubin, the son of the Muzhayer Rebbe, styles himself as Ropshitzer Rebbe, where hundreds of followers study and pray throughout the day in an atmosphere of holiness, warmth and hospitality. A coffee room as well as other accommodations is available to the members.
