The classic tale of the giant, chest-pounding icon, King Kong, has been reincarnated into several monster-adventures. Which film will you choose?

Los Angeles, CA – August 21, 2018 –

King Kong has been the staple of the world’s most famous monster since the dawn of time.

In fact, the character has been revived into nine feature films since the first in 1933. Since, “there’s been no small measure of great ape movies seeking to either honor or pillage his legacy. From a pair of long-lost Japanese films from the 1930s to a Bangladeshi musical in 2010, numerous filmmakers have sought to usurp the King’s throne through (usually) unauthorized versions. There have been animated television series, straight-to-video features, and even movies starring a professional wrestler named King Kong,” wrote Screen Rant.

Indulge on the retellings of the classic tale about the colossal gorilla with a unique twist with these three King Kong films:

1. THE MIGHTY KONG (1998) – Directed by Art Scott

The most fun of all nine King Kong features, THE MIGHTY KONG is an animated and musical adventure that takes viewers of any age (rated G) through the colorful world of the iconic monster. Starring the voice of Jodi Benson (Ariel in The Little Mermaid, Toy Story films) and Dudley Moore (Oscar nominee for Arthur), THE MIGHTY KONG features wonderful musical numbers by composers, the Sherman Brothers (Richard and Robert Sherman), who are remembered for spectacular music in legendary films including Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Charlotte’s Web. 2. QUEEN KONG (1976) – Directed by Frank Agrama

As a gender-reversal of a story, QUEEN KONG (aka Die tollen Abenteuer der Queen Kong) is a satire of feminist ideas. Instead, a female film crew adventures to Africa where they find the Queen Kong, only for her to fall madly in love with the crew’s male star. Featuring Big Ben and the film’s British influence, QUEEN KONG was originally and only released in West Germany and Italy due to copyright issues.

3. KING KONG VS. GODZILLA (1962) – Directed by Ishirô Honda

KING KONG VS. GODZILLA (aka Kingu Kongu tai Gojira) is the ultimate crossover team-up between the world’s two giant monsters, King Kong vs. Godzilla. In this Japanese version, a pharmaceutical company captures King Kong until the ape wildly escapes captivity. Unlike the others of its kind, Honda’s King Kong has the ability to absorb electricity, which makes him stronger. But once he escapes, will he be able to defeat the legendary Godzilla who stands in his path of freedom?
