Vampires are known as fearsome beings: always on the search for fresh blood, always mysterious, and never – well – cute. Vampierus is different from all the other vampires. He’s rather small. And he’s nice. Both attributes seperate him from the rest of his kind and make him feel misunderstood and lonely. He decides to travel into an enchanted forest to look for a friend who accepts him just the way he is. He however doen’t expect to meet a dangerous werewolf. This werewolf’s name is Werwolfo and even though it goes against his nature, he asks for the little vampire’s help.
The readers of “Vampierus and Werwolfo” by Janine Puchner witness the start of an unusual and deep friendship. The children’s book about magical creatures is not only entertaining but also teaches important lessons about finding your place. Children learn that they don’t have to be like everyone else to become special to someone. The story also shows how becoming friends with someone very different from yourself may just be the most rewarding thing you can do.
