Students at Dehesa School in El Cajon, California are getting an amazing opportunity to spread their knowledge across the globe. Dehesa School is paired up with a sister school; Huzhou Paddington Bilingual School, from China. Dehesa students will be welcoming fifteen Chinese exchange students to their campus through the Global Youth Ambassador Project of San Diego.
Arriving in late January, the Chinese students from Huzhou will not only get to experience school in America, but will be taught lessons on American and Kumeyaay culture by the Dehesa students themselves. The Chinese students being welcomed to the Dehesa school campus will be middle school students ranging in age from 10 to 14, and will be hosted by local families.
In turn, the Dehesa eighth grade students will have the opportunity to travel to China for 10 days over Spring Break to experience life in China with their sister-school friends! This exciting exchange program has many benefits for both the Chinese students and the American students of Dehesa School.
All students involved will be able to create international bonds and relationships which will help to broaden their world views. Gaining these experiences with new cultures, peoples, and places will have a lasting effect on the students of Dehesa.
