With new laser removal technology, tattoos are no longer a permanent mark of the past.
We take a look at one of our clients (Ali Kilinicbay) experience which gave him a new outlook on life after ‘hitting rock bottom’.
Ali explains, “About two and a half years ago I went through a traumatic period in my life, where I lost my closest friend, my dog, and my relationship ended. Everything just crumbled and I feel into a depressed state.”
That’s when Ali decided to get a half sleeve tattoo to symbolise his life ordeal and growth.
“The original idea was to have some sort of a battle scene to depict how my mental state was at that present time and the constant struggle with life that I was going through,” Ali said.
Half was through the process the tattoo artist took a different direction with the design causing the tattoo to become completely infected once finished. The infection was a horrible experience for Ali. Soon he felt it was pulling him back down to that dark depressed state and he begun revisiting unwanted memories.
Ali realised the only way to fix the negativity in his life was to have the tattoo removed.
Luckily a friend suggested Pulse Light Clinic. Ali arranged his first visit which includes a free consultation and patch test back in 2016. He was teamed up with our lovely member of staff Cherrie, who showed him around and made him feel comfortable. They talked through the treatment process, timings, price options and book Ali in for his first treatment.
Ali explains, “Within a week from having my first treatment I could tell that a majority of the ink was lifted and the first treatment probably removed about 45% of my tattoo.”
Seeing these results from one treatment gave him reassurance that he was needed and booked the package of six treatments. He was ready to start his journey towards improving his life with every treatment a step to closer to it.
He Said “Pulse Light Clinic gave me the courage to actually want to improve myself it wasn’t about making mistakes and living with them. You’ve got the opportunity to revamp your life and change the past, move forward and improve for the better. “
After finishing six treatments Ali was able to create the most beautiful cover up which tells the story of all his positive parts in his life. How you can hit rock bottom and find that reason to crawl your way back out. He changed from a negative mindset to a positive mindset through letting go of his past. Ali even started changing his lifestyle and got back into old hobbies.

“About two and a half years ago I went through a traumatic period in my life, where I lost my closest friend my dog, my ex relationship everything just crumbled and out of my depressed state I went and decided to get a tattoo. I had a half sleeve up to my forearm, the original idea was to have some sort of a battle scene to depict how my mental state was at the time with the constant struggle with life that I was going through. However, during that process the tattoo artist created his own creation and it evolved into something I didn’t want to do. Towards the end I started to get breakouts and infection, blisters oozing around my arm which was a horrible experience and it pulled me back to darkness, that depressed state.
Then a friend luckily recommended Pulse Light Clinic, so I came in and spoke to a nice lady called Aurora she showed me around the clinic, the treatment process and how long it would take and straight up I started going through the process with that half sleeve. Initially it was a nightmare, very painful, much more painful than the tattoo itself but it’s a weird experience, it’s an experience where it’s painful you dread it while it’s happening but the second it’s over you kind of miss it and you look forward to the next session. Every session is a step to improvement it’s a weird journey but after the third session I started seeing a huge difference my arm cleared up.
The nurses here are absolutely amazing their great, Cherrie Aurora are brilliant people, really friendly and talked me through the whole process step by step constantly in contact with them on the phone checking how i’m doing, how the recoveries going.
Before I knew it within the year I was actually ready to cover up my arm and let go off the past and actually move forward. So the transformations been crazy it’s been a hell of a journey but I’ll do it in a blink of an eye all over again if I had too. It’s been an amazing experience and I’ve loved every step of the way.
So the first time I came to see Cherrie to remove my tattoo, she said that due to it being half a sleeve that it’s not going to be a one session thing and we would have to split it into sections. We decided we would do half my arm one day and the following week do the other half so the arm doesn’t swell over the top. That was the best advice she gave me as half an arm would be extremely painful .
Within a week you can tell that a majority of the ink was lifted and the first session probably removed about 40/45% of my tattoo alone. I mean after seeing that result for the first week it’s an addiction it’s like you’re hooked I called up booked my package and the rest of my sessions started slotting in date and just couldn’t wait for the next session. That was the start of my journey.
As I mentioned previously the first tattoo was out of depression and anxiety and the negative mental state I was in. It was that moment in my life and to be fair I owe a lot to Pulse Light Clinic they gave me the courage to actually want to improve myself it wasn’t about making mistakes and living with them you’ve got the opportunity to revamp your life and change the past and move and improve for the better.
I kind of took that first session onboard and said I’m going to improve my life completely started training again back into sports back into gym, muay thai.
From 134 kilos overweight to obese and unhealthy miserable individual to just under 80 kilos transformed my body, competing in kickboxing and back to an athletic state I haven’t been for 10-15 years. I decide to comoderate that with a tattoo I sourced out one of the best tattoo artists I could find that specialises in realism.
Met up with him a few times and had a discussion explaining to him him what I went through and we decided to go with a design that would represent the whole spiritual extension and positive journey that I’ve been through so I’ve got areas of covering up my arm representing the atom you see in the eye, the skin to beauty rendition with the healing to represent my parents. The whole concept on my arm it’s all positive outlooks of life and how you can hit rock bottom in any aspect of life and find that reason to crawl your way back out and this an example of how I’ve changed from a negative mindset to a positive mindset. “
