A cooperative questing board game with dice-battle mechanics, Return to Ravingspire takes place within a Tower amongst the remains of a crashed far-future space station in a land of swords and sorcery, with ever-shifting parallel realms of space and time.
The challenges encountered are many and players, who control a party of 1-4 Heroes, must collectively choose which paths to take to defeat or bypass challenges drawn by the oversized Tower card at the beginning of each turn. They may choose to face such challenge head-on, battling them with magic and might, or they may instead decide to escape into one of the many of the Tower’s dimensional portals to get better equipped with weapons and treasure.
Each Hero in Ravingspire is equipped with two custom dice for use in battle. The first is their Character Die, unique to them and inscribed with their name on the face, while the second is their Class die, which is dependent on their character class and reflects the unique qualities and abilities they rely on in-game. Lastly, the party splits four custom Vorpal Dice between them, representing the mystic artifacts they’ve gathered to defeat the Tower’s evil master once and for all. They can also utilize the various loot cards they find to help them in battle.
As a stand-alone adventure game, Return to Ravingspire comes beautifully packaged in an embossed, leatherette, wooden book-shaped box that resembles the leather-bound spell book. It is bound to be fun for everyone to enjoy.
