New and innovative book series about mermaid yoginis aims to promote psychological and emotional growth and self-awareness in children with empowering content that is creative and unconventional

Nowadays, children are increasingly vulnerable to the negative influence of media, leaving them susceptible to low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. Under such circumstances, it is essential to create content and media that helps kids develop a strong sense of positive power. Venus and her Fly Trip is one such book series. The book series is full of interventions and techniques from psychology and alternative healing arts that will help them live a confident and peaceful life. The makers of the book series have launched a funding campaign on Kickstarter for the first installment in the series called Venus Underwater. Venus Underwater is comprised of two volumes – the Wisdom Eye Songbook and the Wisdom Eye Storybook.

The series protagonist is a mermaid named Venus who, along with a whimsical, loveable cast of underwater sea creatures, conveys essential education on emotions, mindfulness and positive power to readers age four to ten. The series has been created through the collaborative efforts of a team of talented individuals. The author of the series, Julia Hengst, is a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 20 years of experience. Through her experience, Hengst wishes to educate children and their families about kindness, mindfulness and calmness. The series strives to spread a message of positivity through elaborate stories, interesting themes, and humorous puns. The book series will work on children as individuals, ensuring that they become confident in handling emotions and thinking critically. The stories also help children gain a better understanding of the environment, develop a sense of community and participate in teamwork.

Another prominent target of the Venus and her Fly Trip series is to develop a strong female protagonist who shatters gender-based stereotypical assumptions of heroism. The books aim at the holistic development of children and families. Made from 100% recycled paper, the books also follow a “pages for all ages” concept – making their content accessible and relatable to a diverse audience across many age groups.
