On September 24th, the first press conference of the 2019 One Town One Product (OTOP) International Commodities Expo was held in Beijing. With the approval of the Ministry of Commerce of China, the 2019 OTOP International Commodities Expo will be held at the International Convention and Exhibition Center in Changsha, Hunan Province from November 15th to 17th, 2019.
According to the press conference, the high-degree of internationalization and high-level of exhibitors will become the highlights of this year’s fair. In order to promote the internationalization of this Expo, the organizers invited various international participants including international economic and trade organizations, internationally renowned entrepreneurs, global authoritative experts and scholars, international buyers, and also guests in the fields of culture, science and technology, and tourism. The organizers are committed to bring quality global exhibitors and buyers together to promote the development of international trade.
Currently nearly 5,000 companies from more than 20 countries and regions will exhibit different types of products with regional characteristics, and thousands of global buyers intend to make on-site purchases. The Expo will be divided into areas with different themes such as international cooperation, distinctive culture and tourism products, unique B&Bs, and standardized health products, aiming to open new channels for the collaborations between international businesses and China.
A series of events including the OTOP International Cooperation Forum, the OTOP Global Buyers Symposium, the OTOP Investment and Financing Promotion Meeting, and the OTOP E-Commerce Development Forum will be held during the Expo. The 4th National Conference on Regional Development will also be held at the Expo during the same time. This conference will host various discussion topics including the National Academic Forum on Economic and Social Development of Ethnic Regions, the National Ethnic Region Investment and Trade Fair, the National Cultural Tourism Development Forum, the National Ethnic Medicine Industry Heritage and Revitalization Development Forum, and the Cross-Strait Rural Revitalization Industry Forum.
Changsha is an important city along China’s Yangtze River Economic Belt. It is China’s 14th city to reach a GDP of over one trillion yuan. Changsha has been focusing on improving its business environment in recent years and launched a series of preferred policies for global enterprises, therefore greatly improved the city’s ability for industry gatherings. Currently Changsha has been shaping its modern manufacturing industry, modern service industry and modern agricultural system around the 22 global industrial chains. By hosting this OTOP International Commodities Expo, Changsha will also carve “OTOP” onto its metropolitan icon.
The OTOP industry promotion plan is officially initiated by CCPNT after the approval of AQSIQ. The plan was aimed at establishing a scientific industrial upgrading system through the integration of social forces. It covered more than 2,800 cities & counties and 40,000 towns & villages in China, building regional product brands and accelerating the formation of industrial centers.
The 2019 OTOP International Commodities Expo is jointly sponsored by the China Council For the Promotion of National Trade, the China International Chamber of Commerce, and the Municipal Government of Changsha.
