Oakland Gardens, New York, USA – Will Tomi, an award-winning filmmaker, and writer, launched his latest comic book ‘Darwin’s Quotient’ in September 2022. He has launched a Kickstarter for pre-sales of the book, written over 4.5 years. The story is based in a utopian world where people receive rankings based on their genetic potential.
The comic book revolves around the life of Ben, who has worked hard his whole life to get to ‘A-rank,’ but it takes an ugly turn while he is celebrating his achievement. The book depicts the power of technology and its flip side.
“Darwin’s Quotient is close to my heart as I have spent years putting this together, and I hope people enjoy reading this,” said Tomi, who has been a storyteller since age 5. “The book deals with an interesting and exciting subject wherein human beings are tracked based on their actions and genetics,” he added.
The story features the following characters, DQ officials, Ben: A-Rank, George: C-Rank, Ben’s brother, Vermin, regarded as the low ranks in the society, and Savages recognized as the outcasts of society cannibals.
While writing this comic book, Will has drawn inspiration from movies, books, graphic novels, and people such as Aron Siva, Jin Huang, Valentino Rudi, his dogs (Long long, Mulan), and his cat (Yuki) and his wife-to-be, Henna C.
“The book tackles the question of Nature vs Nurture, Humanity vs Morality, and whether the technology we create is on our side. It gives readers a lot to think about,” Tomi added, who produced an award-winning short film (Mount Treacherous) in 2017.
