In Idols & Trinkets, both adventure and destiny intertwine as our characters embark on two separate adventures that challenge their faith and resolve.

What inspired you to write Idols & Trinkets?

The inspiration for Idols & Trinkets stemmed from our ongoing curiosity about what lies ahead for our characters and our desire to explore new, uncharted territories within the world we’ve created. By the time we reached book four, we realized that we had yet to fully discover Drake’s origins, particularly his homeland to the east. While we had dropped subtle hints along the way, it felt like the right moment to take readers there and unravel the mysteries that had been lurking just beyond the horizon. This book allowed us to dive deeper and bring new layers to the story, offering fans a fresh perspective on familiar characters and settings.

How did you feel when you found out you received a Book Excellence Award?

We were thrilled to receive a Book Excellence Award as it offered so much more than just a prestigious seal for the cover. Beyond the recognition, it offered a platform to connect with readers, industry professionals, and fellow creatives, ultimately amplifying the impact of our book in the literary world.

How did your background and experience influence your writing?

Growing up, we were both captivated by the epic worlds of fantasy—especially Tolkien’s Middle-earth. Those stories lit a creative fire in us early on and planted the dream of building a world of our own someday. That shared passion became the foundation of our writing partnership, and when the idea for an epic fantasy series took shape, we knew it was something we had to do together. Our backgrounds, shared interests, and lifelong love for storytelling have all played a role in shaping the Drake Thomas series into something both personal and expansive—a tribute to the genre that first captured our hearts.

What is one message you would like readers to remember?

You’re not alone, and you never have been.

Austin’s Best DJs & Photo Booths completed 4000 events in April 2025. Here’s the story of how this company went from a one-man show to one of the top minority-owned entertainment companies in the Austin and central Texas area.

Austin, TX – April 22, 2025 – Austin’s Best DJs & Photo Booths was formed by Jason Alexander Rubio, who was working as a principal at an alternative Juvenile Justice school in 2012, while still actively DJing during his free time at local bars and clubs, and occasionally at private events.

Jason states, “I learned to DJ when I was 13 and fell in love with it. It helped me earn money throughout high school and in college. I kept at it because I truly love music. In 2012, I began to focus more on private events, and I noticed there was a lack of professional, racially diverse DJs who could provide entertainment for multicultural weddings and events in the Austin and central Texas area. There were almost no professional DJ companies in the central Texas area that provided bilingual (Spanish) DJs either.”

Jason decided to change this in the fall of 2012. He began as a solo DJ, but knew that he would someday grow the company, so he decided to name his business “Austin’s Best DJs.” Jason sought out the top DJs in the central Texas area and created an amazingly talented team.

Later, in 2015, Jason added photo booth rentals to his lineup, as well as lighting and other special effects for events. He then changed the business name to Austin’s Best DJs & Photo Booths.

In 2023, Jason also wrote and published a book, “Succeeding in the Wedding & Events Business,” to help other DJs succeed. Today, Jason and his team are still one of the top minority-owned DJ companies in the Austin and central Texas area. As of April 2025, they have completed 4000 events and have earned hundreds of five-star reviews from happy clients all over Texas. Thirteen years later, Jason and his team are still busy and plan to continue providing clients with amazing professional DJ and photo booth services!
