At 12 noon on December 13, 2023, Rome time, the first Santa Maria del Fiore Art Week opened successfully at the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. Although this art week encountered a unique rainy day in Florence, this did not affect the normal performance of the opening ceremony. On the contrary, it adds a romantic atmosphere, and the hazy beauty presented is a unique expression of the conflict between tradition and modernity, material and spiritual, faith and consumerism. The opening ceremony consisted of two performance art performances. The off-site performance art performance was performed by the curatorial team in the Cathedral Square of Santa Maria del Fiore and inside the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. The performance art performance inside the venue was performed by Italian performance artist Luca Bongini in the ISOLART GALLERY. The performance art work “Buy Now” created by Our Lady of Flowers Art Week.

Tell us about Harbinger.

Harbinger brings together themes of alien invasion, A.I. and future technologies, all tied together in a love story, road trip, and a race against time.

In 2017, astronomers observed a mysterious interstellar object moving through the Solar System. By the time it was noticed, it had already passed Earth and buzzed the inner worlds, bound for deep space. It was soon forgotten, dismissed as a comet or planetary fragment, as Earth’s scientists turned to more pressing matters.

But this was no mere rock. An alien spaceship looking for habitable planets, it sent a machine probe to Earth, containing a sentient quantum computer. After crash landing in South America, the probe was found by an eccentric Silicon Valley billionaire who used its computational power to give himself groundbreaking technology, and unlimited wealth … until something goes wrong.

War veteran Will Logan is kidnapped and brought to a top secret research campus. It seems certain that Will and his missing wife, Alex, are the saboteurs. But nothing is what it seems!

What inspired you to write Harbinger?

When I first read about the kilometer-sized rock ‘Oumuamua, it immediately reminded me of Arthur C. Clarke’s novel, Rendezvous with Rama, which was one of my favorite books as a young adult.

In writing Harbinger, my goal was to present a different spin on the alien invasion genre, while including the development of sentient A.I. and its implications for humanity.

Significant inspiration in this regard came from reading Yuval Noah Harari, in particular his book, Homo Deus, in which old myths are coupled with new godlike technologies, such as artificial intelligence and genetic engineering. Other themes and concepts in the novel were influenced by ideas developed and proposed by the physicist Max Tegmark in his 2018 book, Life 3.0.

How did your background and experience influence your writing?

I’ve always loved science fiction and dreamed about being an author in this genre for as long as I can remember. My favorite authors include old school legends such as Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, Dan Simmons and Frank Herbert, but I devour almost everything by Alastair Reynolds, Neal Stephenson and Kim Stanley Robinson. It may be a cliché, but I am also a big Star Wars, Marvel and Tolkien tragic. Like many kids of that era, I waited in line to watch Star Wars in 1977 and snuck in underage to see many other great sci-fi movies. I loved TV sci-fi classics such as Star Trek, Dr Who, Blakes 7, and many more.

As a doctor and scientist, my research background helps me dip into other fields such as physics, cosmology and astronomy, and pull out what I hope is necessary to make my science fiction works feel and sound realistic.

What is one message you would like readers to remember?

In these times of unprecedented change, many existential threats are emerging—from sentient A.I. to nuclear war to pandemics [accidental, or manufactured], and more. If humanity is to continue to flourish, we must find a way to navigate these uncertain waters. Although it is frightening to think about, we are definitely approaching a bottleneck in our survival, and the next decade or two could either define us…or finish us.

On December 13th RNXT announced the Company has filed an international patent application under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) for its novel Trans-Arterial Micro-Perfusion (TAMP) therapy platform. RNXT already holds a strong intellectual property portfolio with 9 issued patents and 9 pending patents for its proprietary TAMP platform and delivery system in the US, EU, and Asia. The patent portfolio covers two main areas, mechanical and biological.

The new RNXT international patent application is filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty on methods and apparatuses that may be used to deliver one or more therapeutic agents through the vasa vasorum (small blood vessels that supply the walls of larger arteries or veins) to a target tissue. Third Quarter 2023 Financial Results and Operational Highlights

On November 11th RNXT announced financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2023.

Key Business Highlights:

Continued to advance RNXT Phase III TIGeR-PaC clinical trial for the treatment of LAPC. The first of two interim analyses was completed in March 2023, and the Data Monitoring Committee recommended a continuation of the study. The study is prespecified to provide a primary endpoint of a 6-month OS benefit and secondary endpoints including reduced adverse events versus standard of care. Additionally, Dr. Michael J. Pishvaian, Johns Hopkins Medicine and Principal Investigator of TIGeR-PaC, presented at the Global Summit on Gastrointestinal Malignancies in Bermuda. The presentation, “Increasing Local Gemcitabine Delivery Using TAMP in the Chemotherapy Advances in Pancreatic Cancer,” highlighted the proprietary TAMP therapy platform and its design to ensure precise delivery for targeted treatment of cancer, and its potential for increased safety, tolerance, and improved efficacy.

Ripal Gandhi, FSIR, FSVM, investigator in the TIGeR-PaC study, presented, “Advances in Pancreatic Cancer: Trans-arterial Therapy on the Horizon,” at the Symposium on Clinical Interventional Oncology (CIO) on September 22-24, 2023, in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Gandhi highlighted the TAMP therapy platform as a potential targeted treatment option for patients diagnosed with locally advanced pancreatic cancer versus the standard of care. Dr. Gandhi is a member of the Miami Cancer Institute and Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute physician team, a Clinical Professor at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, and an Associate Professor at USF School of Medicine.

Collaboration with Imugene Ltd (ASX: IMU) further validates the TAMP platform and will expand the use of RenovoRx’s delivery platform beyond chemotherapy to immunotherapy.

Financial Highlights for Third Quarter ended September 30, 2023:

RNXT Cash Position: Cash and cash equivalents as of September 30, 2023, were $3.2 million.

R&D Expenses: Research and development expenses were $1.6 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2023, compared to $0.8 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2022. The increase was primarily due to our ongoing Phase III clinical trial cost of $0.4 million, an increase in employee and related benefits costs of $0.3 million, and general and administrative allocated costs of $0.2 million. This increase was partially offset by a decrease in costs associated with a secondary manufacturer of $0.1 million.

G&A Expenses: General and administrative expenses were $1.3 million for the third quarter ended September 30, 2023, flat compared to the same period last year. Employee and related benefits costs increased $0.3 million compared to the same quarter last year. This increase was offset by a decrease in directors’ and officers’ insurance expenses of $0.1 million, including allocation of general and administrative expenses to research and development of $0.2 million.

Net Loss: Net loss was $1.4 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2023, compared to net loss of $2.1 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2022. The decrease is primarily due to an increase in operating expenses of $0.8 million, offset by $1.5 million reported gain on the fair value of common warrants issued under our Registered Direct Offering in April 2023.
