These relationships are aimed at increasing literacy among children in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and have already proven fruitful with more than 15,000 French and English books donated to the cause.

Children in the DRC face numerous obstacles, including illiteracy. There are millions of school-age children in the DRC who have never received a formal education, and statistics show that only 4 in 100 children in the DRC have an opportunity to become literate. A Gesture of Love is a Houston, Texas, based non-profit corporation that goes into the DRC to provide much-needed aid, with a particular emphasis on supporting literacy in children.
