Hey Duane Johnson, Antuone Torbert’s in the House

From Youngstown to Young Rock, this young actor doubles down on hard work and gratitude

North Hollywood, CA – March 14, 2022 – When Season 2 of the NBC-TV series, Young Rock, premieres this Tuesday at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central, look for a new face in the house.

That face, if you haven’t seen him already, belongs to actor Antuone Torbert, and the bodybuilder physique belongs to him too. It’s fitting, since he’ll be portraying real-life WWE legend Tony Atlas in five episodes of the season.

And the house, so to speak – that belongs to Dwayne Johnson, whose prime-time deep dive into inspiring and entertaining autobiography is resonating big-time with fans. Antuone would be watching every week, even if he wasn’t on it. But in a dream-come-true that actually echoes Dwayne The Rock’s own success story, Antuone is in fact on the show. And what a road it’s been to get here.

That road didn’t begin in Bel Air or even Encino. Actor Antuone Torbert hails from Youngstown, Ohio. Famous for making steel. In this case, it did – for it forged a strong personality and a most durable dream.

Some dream big, some dream little. Of course, the bigger the dream, the bigger the pressure – self-imposed or otherwise. And just being a son of Youngstown, Antuone felt he had a lot to live up to, but he’ll also be the first to tell you that his hometown gave him a lot to be inspired by, too.

Turning out role models of perseverance like boxing great Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini, football coaching legend Jim Tressel, and Antuone’s own uncle, white hat Head Ref in the NFL Ronald Torbert, this steaming cauldron of a steel town has never exactly been a pushover. But neither was Antuone’s mother, as she raised two children on her own until she met her second husband, a happy ending there.

One just imagines the journey, from being the young boy watching rented movies with his family, to giving as good as he got as an amateur boxer, to a tourism industry stint as a Destination Specialist, till he finally broke through and started to reach his own destination.

Antuone Torbert has racked up credits in just a few short years that include Jurassic Hunt (2021), a lead role in Dragon Soldiers (2020, Soul Hunters (2019), My Daddy’s in Heaven (2017). Meanwhile, co-starring, recurring, and guest starring roles in an array of TV shows that have led him – like a yellow brick road he never knew he was on – right up to the house called Young Rock.

Now that he’s reached this latest next level in an acting career that is clearly going to just keep rising, is Antuone Torbert still going to be calling his mother every day? And yes, that’s right, dudes built like brick edifices such as Antuone and Duane, they have mothers too. And the answer is, you can bet on it. Because there are three things that Antuone still does religiously each day, two of them being praying and training. You already heard about the third one.

So it only seems fitting that a family-oriented, cranberry-juice ordering, gym-loving actor like Antuone Torbert would find the next big door to walk through under a shingle that reads Young Rock.

Catch Antuone this Tuesday. And Michael Bay, Peter Berg, and other action directors of note, we recommend you be watching too.
