Runningboards Marketing Named One of 2022’s Top New and Emerging Franchises by Entrepreneur

The Digital Out-of-Home Advertising Franchisor, Runningboards Marketing and Their LED Video Billboard Trucks, are Owning the Mobile Advertising Market!

Runningboards Marketing (RBM), a digital mobile billboard franchise, was recognized by Entrepreneur magazine as a Top 100 New and Emerging Franchise. The ranking highlights the hottest companies that have begun offering franchise opportunities since 2017.

“We have something special and understand that the important drivers of franchise company growth are happy, profitable, and engaged franchisees,” said Runningboards Marketing CEO, Calvin McNeely. “We continue to do the hard work of learning, growing, changing lanes, shifting gears and keeping our foot on the accelerator, never hitting the cruise.”

The ranking is based on information submitted to Entrepreneur for its annual Franchise 500®. To qualify for inclusion on the 2022 list, companies featured have been offering a franchise model for five years or fewer and were assessed across multiple data points including unit growth, start-up costs and fees, training and support, the parent company’s financial stability, and brand strength.

“Entrepreneur’s Top New and Emerging List not only highlights some of the hottest companies in the franchise business, but underscores that creativity and innovation are alive and well in 2022,” said Entrepreneur Senior VP of Franchising Liane Caruso.

Runningboards Marketing is the first and fastest growing franchise of its kind in the U.S. and poised to have the largest fleet of LED digital mobile billboard trucks in the nation. According to Executive VP Zach Yelle, RBM was able to secure twenty-five, 2022 Ford Transit vans to build their digital advertising vehicles. That’s more than most Ford dealerships.

When one of RBM’s newest franchise owner-operators, Jim Chapin, learned about the franchise and its innovative digital advertising vehicle, DAV®, he didn’t think twice about investing in the emerging concept.

“Initially, when I was searching for a new business opportunity to invest in, I looked at a lot of brands. I was able to evaluate this opportunity from an entrepreneurial and business-ownership perspective. After two weeks in the business, my expectations were exceeded, and my expectations were already very high. There is nothing like this in the marketplace,” Chapin said.

During RBM’s comprehensive training, franchisees learn the power behind the brand’s subscription-based model. Unlike other service-based businesses that require repeat business, RBM’s advertising clients are on a monthly subscription. This helps alleviate some of the financial uncertainty seen in most industries along with insight to long-term revenue projections.

“With monthly subscriptions, we’re able to build a campaign that helps businesses grow,” Chapin said. Chapin opened his Wake Forest, North Carolina location in March, closed his first deal before he ever completed training, a strategy taught to all new RBM franchisees prior to opening their territory. Within two months, Chapin had already signed several clients and is looking forward to adding one vehicle to his fleet every year for the next 10 years.
