Ningbo is located at the intersection of the Chinese Mainland’s coastline and the 30th parallel north. Its seafaring civilization was born 8,000 years ago with the Jingtoushan culture. As a coastal port city with the quaintness of a southern Chinese water town, an economic hub of southern Yangtze Delta, a nationally-recognized city of history and culture, and one of China’s first “outstanding tourism destination cities”, Ningbo is transforming into a modern coastal metropolis, a global maritime center, as well as a cultural heartland of the new era and a modern coastal tourist city.

The “Top Ten Views” of Ningbo—Maritime Silk Road Port, Grand Canal Departure, Great Oriental Port, Front Bay Wetland, Ningbo Blue Bay, Mt. Mei Green Island, Lake Resort, Asia Sailing Bay, Shipu Fishing Harbor, and Stone Forest on the Sea—were presented as emblems of Ningbo’s coastal culture, seaside beauty, and Song Dynasty maritime traditions. Notably, Ningbo’s “Top Five Tourism Experiences”, nominated in celebration of the National Day Holiday, and over a hundred cultural tourism programs were showcased at the event. Huge posters caught the eye of many visitors.

The opening ceremony also included a trivia game about Ningbo’s culture and tourism. In-depth discussions on future cooperation proposed virtual tourism and exhibitions as a way to enhance mutual learning and understanding in the future. When the pandemic ends, Ningbo and South Korea will implement more partnership projects and jointly advance mutually-beneficial cultural tourism growth.
