Being healthy should be part of a person’s lifestyle in order to prevent chronic diseases and long-term illnesses. While there is no one food that can guarantee a reduced risk from heart disease, type 2 diabetes, or Alzheimer’s, following a plant based diet can help – and Simply Plant Based Kitchen is here to make healthy eating easier.
Simply Plant Based Kitchen was founded by Kim Murphy, a certified plant based health coach, and her mission is to help busy people discover how simple and easy whole food plant based eating can be.
One way eating a plant based diet improves a person’s overall health is by boosting the immune system. When you eat more whole plants, you get more fiber. And fiber feeds our important microflora in our gut. It turns out 70% of our immune system is in our gut and has to do with our important microflora. So feeding our microflora with more fiber helps to improve our immune system to keep the bad bugs out.
Just like most people, Kim struggled with switching to a plant based diet. It took her months after the death of her father from Alzheimer’s to realize that she didn’t want to live everyday with fear of having the same illness that took her father too soon. From all the latest research, she learned that food is the best medicine and this is why she is committed to sharing with other the power they have to improve their own health by eating more plants. Like Hippocrates said once, “Let food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food.”
Simply Plant Based Kitchen advocates a whole food plant based way of eating. Basically, it centers on whole plant foods that are minimally processed, and minimizing or avoiding, animal products, dairy, and processed foods. Whole food plant based eating also minimize or avoid all oils, which are a processed food, salt, and sugar.
Poor diet and lifestyle is usually one of the triggers of chronic diseases like diabetes, obesity, heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s. For years, health professionals and registered dietitians have been supporting the perks of eating plants and cutting back on meat and other processed foods. In fact, following a plant based diet is said to help lower blood pressure, keep the heart healthy, prevent type 2 diabetes, lose weight, decrease the risk of cancer, improve cholesterol, and minimize the risk of stroke.
Kim acknowledges that transitioning to a healthier lifestyle is not easy. Through Simply Plant Based Kitchen, she hopes to show others how simple it can be with her recipes, guides, and classes. She teaches how to use everyday ingredients you can find at your local grocery store to make delicious recipes that don’t take a lot of time to prepare. She also has a Plant Based Diet Beginner’s Guide that is available for free on her website to help those who are new to this way of eating get started without being overwhelmed.
Make plant based eating a long term lifestyle and achieve the best health. More information about Simply Plant Based Kitchen can be found at https://simplyplantbasedkitchen.com/.
