World-renowned concert violinist and recording artist, Jaime Mansilla is proud to announce his transition from a Violinist to a concert Conductor after more than 3 decades of playing the Fiddle.
As an international concert violinist, Jaime has played in the best theaters in the world in around 30 countries, including Carnegie Hall, Salzburg Mozarteum, Place des Arts, etc. He has 19 albums produced in the USA between 2008 and 2019 as a solo violinist, which are on all music platforms in the world, such as Apple, Tidal, Spotify, etc. His new recordings with works by Mozart, Vivaldi and Bizet will be released in a few days on all music platforms, and has been recorded with an orchestra under his direction in the USA.
It would seem music is an innate trait in Jaime Mansilla. The precociously gifted violinist was just 7 years old when he made his first venture into music. He followed it up by formally studying violin at the university at age 14. ”I had the opportunity to study with great teachers who instilled in me the study and serious dedication to be a professional musician of international level. I gave my first solo concerts at the age of 17”, he reflected on his time growing up.
Jaime Mansilla has an equal and fascinating love for conducting as he has for playing the violin and he feels this is the right time to make the switch. ”Now through my activity as a recording artist, I have found great fascination and satisfaction in conducting orchestras to make my recordings,” he said. ”This possibility has been a wonderful opportunity for me to choose to continue my musical career as a conductor and musicologist, since the theoretical and historical field of music is of great importance to me, and motivates me to write articles on musical analysis as well as part of my new stage.”
Jaime has had the privilege of living wonderful experiences as a musician: like playing with great artists and also with famous Ballet companies, such as the Bolshoi, the American Ballet of New York, Stuttgart Ballet, etc. But what he considers his proudest moment is his first concert at Carnegie Hall in New York. ”That concert, and later the exceptional criticism I received in the New York Times for that performance in 1992, is without a doubt the moment that gives me the most pride and satisfaction.
The most curious thing is that when all this happened for me it was normal, not something exceptional, as it really was! This experience was decisive in the subsequent development of my life as an artist, and for this reason, I consider it the most relevant in my history.”
Now, as a Conductor, Jaime has set his sight on more exciting musical projects among which is the premiere of several recordings that he made as a conductor in the USA, which will be released in the next few days on music platforms such as Apple, Spotify, Tidal, etc. ”In the coming months, my plans include the creation of a world-class orchestra here in the USA, under my direction, that will represent the world of music in concerts and tours around the world in the coming years. I want to give special emphasis to the incorporation of young talents in this project to help them in their development as instrumentalists and soloists”, he remarked.
Jaime has been in the music industry all his life and has learned some valuable lessons and insights into the workings of the industry. ”I’ve learned to understand that each artist in this industry is unique and unrepeatable. It doesn’t matter what genre of music you’re into, music is music. It is a priceless art and should be treated as such, with the respect it deserves and not just be seen as big business.
