Dr. Kamal Benslama, professor and researcher, was recently selected as Top Professor of the Year in Physics for 2024 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for his outstanding leadership, dedication, and commitment to the industry.
Inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself; only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations, and contributions to their communities. All Honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.
With two decades of experience in the industry, Dr. Benslama has certainly proven himself as an expert in his field. As a dynamic, results driven leader, Dr. Benslama’s academic career is focused on experimental particle physics, having conducted research at the CERN laboratory in Geneva as a member of the ATLAS collaboration, at Nevis Laboratories in New York as a scientist at Columbia University, at Wilson Laboratory (Cornell University) in New York as a member of CLEO collaboration, and at Brookhaven Laboratory as a member of the High Energy physics group at Columbia University. In recent years, he developed an interest in educational technology, especially the development of interactive tools and methods in order to improve the teaching, learning and assessment of physics at the Undergraduate level. Dr. Kamal’s physics research is focused on Higgs bosons, discrete symmetries, and new physics searches. He has experience in a range of detector techniques for high energy hadron collider physics, including calorimeters and tracking systems and their associated electronics. In addition, he has experience in simulation, statistics and object-oriented programming. Dr. Kamal is also a member of the Mu2e collaboration at Fermilab.
Mr. Benslama’s areas of expertise include but are not limited to statistical data analysis, artificial intelligence, quantum mechanics, quantum computing, physics, simulations, research, public speaking, leadership, particle physics, experimental physics, and educational technology.
Before embarking on his career path, Mr. Benslama earned his PhD from the University of Lausanne and his Master’s degree from the University of Geneva, both in Experimental High Energy Physics. He also later earned a dual Master’s in Advanced Studies in Education and Education and Teaching.
Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Benslama has received many awards and accolades and has been recognized worldwide for his accomplishments. He earned Person of Extraordinary Ability in Science and Education by the U.S. Government. As a member of the ATLAS collaboration at CERN, he co-won the 2013 High Energy and Particle Physics Prize for an outstanding contribution to High Energy Physics by the EPS High Energy Physics Division. He is an honored listee in Who’s Who. This year he will be considered for a feature in TIP (Top Industry Professionals). He will be honored at IAOTP’s annual awards gala at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville next December for his selection as Top Professor of the Year in Physics.
